Goodnight Desdmona (Good Morning Juliet) Lighting Design
Nathan Schroeder
Clayton Community Theatre presented Goodnight Desdmona (Good Morning Juliet) in January 2014.
The story starts with a third-rate Shakespeare scholar fantasizing in her university office,
and follows her as she is sucked magically into the worlds of both Romeo & Juliet
and Othello.
My lighting incuded:
- Sharp-edged amber light defining her office walls, with her fantasy acted out under
green light all around her
- a magical symbol appearing on her office door as the spell begins
- light outlining Romeo and Juliet's bed chamber
- dim mottled light when the ghost appears in the boneyard
